PHP is quickly emerging from the backwaters of many large organizations IT departments to the forfront of cutting edge e-commerce and infastrcture applications. It's also finding it's way into the more complex applications of independent and smaller developers.
Much of the broad and ever growing adoption has to do with PHP 5's built in support for most of the Object Oriented fetures serious devleopers need, but also becuase of PHP's naturally simple and elegent programming model. PHP is as simple or as complex as you need it to, addressing your most demanding projects with the kind of elegant simplcity other languages simply can't match.
And yet despite PHP's simplicity and elegance, no programming enviroment and language would be complete without a healthy selection of IDE's from which to choose.
