PHP is quickly emerging from the backwaters of many large organizations IT departments to the forfront of cutting edge e-commerce and infastrcture applications. It's also finding it's way into the more complex applications of independent and smaller developers.

Much of the broad and ever growing adoption has to do with PHP 5's built in support for most of the Object Oriented fetures serious devleopers need, but also becuase of PHP's naturally simple and elegent programming model.
